XUDA ENVIRO-TECH Successfully Wins 90 KTPY Kaolin Project
XUDA ENVIRO-TECH has gotten the contract to supply equipment for the kaolin filter press filtration, granulating, drying, and packaging sections of the TOO Qazaq Kaolin washing and processing project in Kazakhstan. With an expected annual production capacity of 90,000 tons, this project will become the largest kaolin production facility in Kazakhstan and the entire region upon commissioning.
The project utilizes five 1500x1500 model high-pressure membrane filter presses, equipped with high-pressure centrifugal feeding pumps and squeezing water pumps. The expected moisture content of the filter cakes is 24% to 26%. All major equipment has passed factory acceptance testing and been shipped. XUDA ENVIRO-TECH engineers will be dispatched to the project site in December 2025 to guide installation and commissioning.
Kaolin's wide range of applications makes it essential across numerous industrial sectors. It can be categorized by industrial type as follows:
Hard Kaolin: Hard texture, exhibits plasticity after fine grinding. Primarily used in ceramics, refractories, etc.
Soft Kaolin: Soft texture, high plasticity, sand content <50%. Primarily used in paper, coatings, etc.
Sandy Kaolin: Loose, soft texture, weak plasticity, sand content ≥50%. Primarily used in rubber, plastics, etc.
Due to the high viscosity of the thickened kaolin slurry and its fine particle size, effective solid-liquid separation can‘t be achieved using centrifugal filters or vacuum filtration equipment. When using filter presses for dehydration, challenges include high feeding pressure, long filtration cycles, and difficulty in cake discharging. Consequently, high-efficiency automatic filter presses from European brands offer no particular advantage in this application.
XUDA ENVIRO-TECH possesses extensive experience in kaolin filtration. We have successfully designed and supplied filter presses for projects including SUVO MINERALS (Australia), KERAMIKA (Russia), MRD-ECC (Thailand), IMERYS CERAMICS (Egypt), BILIAIVSKYI (Ukraine), and RICHMOND (Ukraine), all achieving satisfactory results.
